Things to do

There are several self guided walks on the station, from less than half an hour to several hours. The walking trails pass through improved pasture, wattle forest and marshland. There are several aged boab trees along these trails for which the Kimberley is known.

It is a paradise for nature photographers and bird watchers.

A map is available in the office.

From Birdwood Downs Station a nice daytrip can be made to Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek. The station is also a good base for a trip to the spectacular Horizontal Falls.

Another day can be spend in and around Derby visiting the Mowanjum Arts Centre, Norval Art Gallery, the jetty and several historical locations.

And last but not least, Birdwood Downs is a great place to relax for a few days, whether you stay in one of the Savannah huts or on our quiet campground.
